Dr. rer. nat. John Kettler
"The phase-out of nuclear energy should not lead to a loss of competences in nuclear engineering in Germany.“
Mr. Kettler studied Physics at the Technical University of Dortmund and made his diploma thesis at the Centre for Synchrotron-Radiation (DELTA). From 2007 to 2010 he worked as part of his doctoral studies at the Research Centre Jülich - Institute of Energy and Climate Research - on the development of an innovative non-destructive measurement- system, which is based on prompt and delayed neutron-activation-analysis.
In 2010 Mr. Kettler received his Ph.D. from the RWTH Aachen University in the department for the disposal of radioactive waste – lead by Prof. Dr. Reinhard Odoj. In 2011 he was honored for his thesis with the “Excellence-Award” of the Research Centre Jülich and the “Future-Award” of RWE AG.
Since 2010, Mr. Kettler works at the Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology Transfer at RWTH Aachen University and is head of the working group “Waste Management & Technology Transfer”. Furthermore he was involved in the “preliminary safety analysis of Gorleben (VSG)” in the scope of his work for the international nuclear safety engineering GmbH.
In May 2011 he established together with Prof. Thomauske and Mr. Havenith the Aachen Institute for Nuclear Training GmbH, where he is one of two managing directors. As part of this activity, he has organized numerous education and training modules as well as conferences like ICOND.
Dr. Kettler was affiliated in January 2015 to the Young College of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
