CASTOR® V-WORKSHOP FOR HANDLING STAFF

WITH PRACTICAL EXERCISES

The subject of the training is a basic understanding of the CASTOR® V cask design. In addition, the basic steps for handling a CASTOR® V are demonstrated. The content of the training is designed to provide potential handling personnel with a comprehensive understanding.

CONTENT THEORY
  • Presentation of CASTOR® casks, production, technical features. Cask washing system (pressure switch - DPS)
  • Behavior in the event of deviations, unforeseeable events, faults, malfunctions
  • Presentation of cask test book
  • Sealing system CASTOR® cask
  • Presentation of the GNS handling equipment

The main points of the program will be clarified in detail bilaterally between the client and the contractor.

CONTENT PRACTICE

Practical implementation of selected steps of a cask-specific process plan (step sequence plan) of CASTOR® V/19 casks into the on-site storage facility with explanations:

  • Dismantling of the secondary lid

  • Removal of the protective cap and the blind flange from the secondary lid and the metal O-rings

  • Disassembly of the sealing cap and its metal O-ring

  • Assembly of the secondary lid

  • Explanation of the helium leak test procedure on the large metal O-ring of the secondary lid

  • Presentation of the task, structure and function of the pressure switch

  • Explanation of the switching point check of the pressure switch

  • Installation of the pressure switch in the secondary lid

  • Troubleshooting in the event of a pressure switch fault
