BASICS OF NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY
In this seminar you will be taught the basic nuclear knowledge. This includes a summary of the historical developments as well as the physical-technical basics. For example, the meaning of the nuclide map, explanation of the mass defect and the binding energy. There will also be an introduction to reactor physics and reactor safety technology. In addition, the nuclear fuel cycle is treated from the extraction of uranium to enrichment and disposal of radioactive waste.

The aim of this seminar is to provide you with basic physical and technical knowledge so that you can gain a sound overview of fundamental topics such as reactor safety and radiation protection. The lecturers will use concrete explanations and examples to present the broad topic from its historical development to the current state of science and technology, so that you can gain an overview and orientation on the subject of nuclear technology. In addition to the principles of radiation protection, the handling of radioactive substances and the ionizing radiation emitted by these substances will be explained. The effects of reactor accidents and the INES scale are also part of the seminar. The basic seminar is designed in such a way that you will be able to focus on individual topics after the seminar.
